The color is dark ruby red. Aromas of cherries,
currants, cedar and anise dominate the nose, along
with a hint of clove. Medium to full-bodied, this
wine displays abundant cherry and currant fruit on
the palate and a velvety mouth feel. Supple and polished
throughout, it finishes withfirm tannins. As with
previous vintages, thisis an extremely drinkable Cabernet
Sauvignon, yet will age well for 10-15 years.
Distinct aromas of eucalyptus and campfire smoke grace
this delicious Cabernet Sauvignon. A robust body and
long, clean finish follow on the palate. Food Affinities:
This wine is at home with most meats, pastas and cheeses.
Amberhill Cabernet Sauvignon is a nicely balanced,
blended red wine using grapes from several regions
of California. After fermentation, the wine is placed
into oak barrels for up to one year of oak aging.
Smooth and flavorful, it is a consistent award winner
and a favorite with the wine media and public. The
robust flavors pair nicely with grilled meats, sausages,
pizza, tomato based pastas, and aged cheeses. Spicy,
woody aromas lead into flavorful berry and plum
character in this medium-bodied Cabernet. The fruit
flavors and toasty oak aromas blend perfectly in
the smooth, soft finish.
Arrowood 2000 Grand Archer Cabernet Sauvignon
Sonoma Valley, California
Deep, ruby red in color, our Cabernet Sauvignon
presents an up-front aromas of luscious, sweet,
forward black fruit. This aromatic experience
is enhanced by notes of cedar box and oak. On
the palate, layers of rich, deeply concentrated,
ripe blackberry, black cherry, plum and cassis
are followed by a lingering finish with notes
of toffee and vanilla in the background. Soft,
supple tannins were achieved through the gentle
handling of the fruit throughout fermentation
and pressing. The balance of fruit and tannins
lend ageability and approachability to this delicious
wine.
Beaulieu - BV 1999 George de Latour Private Reserve
Napa Valley, California
Dark ruby-violet in color, the 1999 Georges de
Latour demonstrates the benefits of judicious
green-harvesting during a difficult vintage. Strongly
aromatic, the wine reveals classic Rutherford
scents of black-cherry, mineral, green and black
peppercorn with anise. The flavors are ripe, yet
less opulent than in 1998, reflecting the long
cool growing season. Rich in berry , mineral ,
and mild herb flavors, with a supple, lively texture
and very fruit forward, the fine, yet firm tannins
provide a solid structure to insure at least a
decade of improvement is ahead. A youthful hint
of vanilla-oak in the finish will harmonize with
the rich fruit in time..
